EDIT/UPDATE "The dude with the beard was very helpful" I only popped in on the off chance they'd have a movie in that if been looking for for ages, and wadyaknow, they had it in stock, bonus. There were plenty of staff in the shop & it's exceptionally well stocked too with everything from DVDs to drones. Full marks indeed. Upon my second visit in September, I popped by just for a nosey & found a HD card I'd needed for quite some time. The only strange thing regarding CeX is the staff are not allowed to give out their names, as I'd asked him for it so I could mention him in my review. I'm afraid "dude with a beard" is the best I can offer.
The prices are shocking, 60 quid for a used controller that is 60 quid brand new.
They do not check their game discs so take your knackered games in here and you'll get paid .
Out of the 5 games I bought , 3 were fit for the bin and beyond any sort of polishing.
They do have a great selection if DVDs but are quite pricey. I'd only use them again to offload damaged discs as they are just simply out of touch with high street prices
I wanted to buy a gaming steering wheel but the saleswoman with pink hairs did not want to show me the steering wheel up close (I think she thought that i wanted to steal it) and when I wanted to ask some details about the equipment (force feedback), no one was able to answer my question and Staff start to be rude. No coverage in the store, to use google you have to go outside the store. Lack of basic customer service knowledge. I left empty-handed.
The staff are clueless. Asked a member of staff about a video game that was coming out, they looked confused and asked if I was sure the game existed, they then asked other members of staff, and they all were equally confused. Went in a few days later to see the game I'd asked about on the shelves. And asking any basic tech questions is just hilarious, the guy said he'd go ask his manager and proceeded to go into a part of the store where he thought I couldn't see him and went on his phone and came back a few minutes later with the answer he'd just googled. For average members of the public who genuinely don't know and need help, having someone who knows what they're talking about is useful, but in this store you're better off just asking Google yourself. I've added this edit to further prove my point, the staff are useless, so useless they couldn't even get my name right in their reply to this review
If I could give this 0 stars I would. My son who has autism wandered in the shop and bought a game his brother had already purchased for him at Xmas unknowingly. The game was 2nd hand and he was charged £50! This is for a game that retails at £39 brand new. I took him back in the store and spoke to a young guy who explained to me that there was simply nothing he could do, and I would not be refunded due to the businesses policy, although I had a full receipt and my son only purchased the game 5 days prior. Apparently there was a little bald guy sat on a stool, who kept shouting stuff over, although there was a female customer next to me in the shop. This started to grate on my nerves, as it was extremely unprofessional. I asked him who he was, he said his name was John, I asked him if he was the store manager. He said he was. Fine! So come and introduce yourself in a professional manner, get off your seat and walk to the counter and speak to me like an adult and like act like a professional manager, and speak through a customer s concerns, not shouting stuff over from your little seat in the corner. Rather strange. I explained that it was a mistake and please i could we get a refund. He said no, quoted store jargon. I explained that my son is vulnerable and he kept proceeding to say everyone is treated the same in here! Ok. But a person who is not a vulnerableember of society would not pay £50 for a 2nd hand game. My son bought it believing it was brand new and did not realise you could get it for £39 brand new. The little bald headed manager John said it is £50 and that is the market price! He could not see the situation as it was. I said I can show you everywhere on Google the correct price. John would not get off his little stool. He was not sympathetic or did not care. Disgusting! Could not even stand up and talk to me at the counter. My son's carer who he was with at the time was in the shop a few doors away, and did not know he had gone to purchase this game. I said please can you not make an exception in this case, he kept repeating no everyone is treated the same, I said you think that's right to charge anyone £50 for a 2nd hand game? You are taking advantage of people and not offering a refund policy when a receipt is produced, what sort of company these days would not offer a full refund? Absolute scammers! The best he could do was give me a £50 voucher. Like we would ever shop in there again? Now I'm stuck with a voucher for a company I would never want to give my custom too again, ripping off vulnerable members of society especially. And John the weakest, unprofessional manager that can't be bothered to get off his little seat. Strange. The other staff in there were ok to be fair.
The prices of some stuff is hilarious.
60 quid for a series s controller , used. They are 60 quid brand new.
Game prices are way over the top.
Films are more expensive in here then can be acquired new from HMV for less.
Honestly folks , just shop about. Everything you find in here can be found cheaper 100%
Good price games for all. Saves me money and friendly staff
My partner bought £22 of games for our son which we already had and he didn't know. So we returned them. Due to it been two hours out of the time frame they gave £3.70 back seriously!! When he went back to get them games back they refused too. Staff were completely rude and absolute rob of a company.
